What happens when solar energy strikes windows?

Our sun is the source of radiant energy. The solar spectrum is made up of three types of radiation; visible light that we can see, infrared and ultraviolet ray which we can only feel. The energy from the Incident Solar Radiation can be transmitted through the glass, reflected from the glass or absorbed. Photo-biologists identified three types of Ultraviolet Rays; UV-A, UV-B and UV-C. UV-C and a portion of UV-B are filtered by the ozone layer. Prolonged exposure to UV-B increases the risk of skin cancer. UV-A Rays are able to penetrate deeper into our skins and are considered the main reason for pre-matured skin aging. Infrared is in the form of heat that we feel.

Our window glass transmits most of the Solar Energy as only a small portion is reflected or absorbed by the clear glass. Our product is able to reduce the Solar Transmittance by increasing Solar Reflectance of the complete Glass & Glazing System.

The Greenhouse Effect

Solar Films are highly effective in heat reduction when the vehicle is on the move. However, all solar films are not able to prevent the Greenhouse Effect totally. Substantial amount of heat could be retained in the enclosed space of the vehicle cabin during parking as a result of the Greenhouse Effect. |
